In response to broad interest in this project:
I invite proposals from those outside of NYU, as well as inside, to participate in the following event, running next academic year (2016-17) at NYU’s Center for the Humanities (date to be confirmed, but it will be a Tuesday evening):
Distracted Reading: Acts of Attention in the Age of the Internet
The Distracted Reading project asks how we might harness modes of distracted attention for innovative pedagogical practices, and/or as inspiration for new scholarly research methods or creative practice. The aim is to bring together both those who are already experimenting with such methods and those who would like to know more, to share experience and expertise.
If you have a scholarly, professional or pedagogical project that fits with this theme, and you would like to be involved, please send me:
— an outline (max 250 words) in a word doc
— with your name and affiliation at the top of the document
— and your name as the doc name.
Send to marion.thain@nyu.edu; DEADLINE: MAY 31st.
I much look forward to hearing about your work,
Marion
