Hi all,
Students and managers that are part of NYCDH may be interested in the National
Digital Stewardship Residency in New York
(NDSR-NY)<http://ndsr.nycdigital.org/>program METRO is administering
and which is now accepting applications from
both host institutions and recent/upcoming Masters degree recipients.
The NDSR-NY program, with generous funding from the Institute of Museum and
Library Services <http://www.imls.gov/>, is working to develop the next
generation of digital stewardship professionals by funding nine-month
hands-on residencies for recent Masters degree recipients to complete
digital stewardship projects at host institutions in the New York City
area. Similar NDSR programs are being run by Harvard Library and MIT
Libraries in Boston <http://projects.iq.harvard.edu/ndsr_boston> and by Library
of Congress in Washington D.C. <http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/ndsr/>
The application and additional information for host institutions can be
found at http://ndsr.nycdigital.org/information-for-hosts/ and the deadline
for submission is *April 25, 2014*.
The application and additional information for residents can be found at
http://ndsr.nycdigital.org/information-for-residents/ and the deadline for
submission is *May 30, 2014*.
For host institutions, participation in NDSR-NY will offer:
– The contributions of highly skilled and motivated residents selected
from a national pool of applicants and whose salary is paid by the NDSR-NY
program.
– The opportunity to help create and refine what is intended to be an
extensible model for a post-Masters degree residency program in digital
stewardship.
– The chance to be an integral part of a collaborative, multi-city
network of host institutions sharing knowledge on digital stewardship and
mentoring emerging professionals in the field.
For residents, participation in NDSR-NY will offer:
– A nine-month paid residency at a New York City institution working on
a specific digital stewardship project with a mentor and with full host
institution support.
– Participation in advanced training, lectures, and events on digital
stewardship conducted by digital preservation professionals and program
staff.
– The opportunity to take part in a nationwide, federally-supported
initiative to foster the development of new digital stewardship
professionals.
– The chance to network and collaborate with peers in similar NDSR
programs being run in Boston and Washington D.C.
– Access to professional development funding, the opportunity to present
at national conferences, and the chance to help contribute to and shape a
national model for post-Masters residency programs.
