Hi all,
We hope that you’ll join us next Thursday, October 4, for an informal community meeting and happy hour — we’ll be sharing updates on NewYorkScapes initiatives and directions for the coming year, as well as hearing from community members about their projects. Newcomers interested in cultural histories of New York City (or other urban spaces), collaborative and project-driven research, and/or applications of digital methods and frameworks are welcome. Feel free to bring along a project update to share, or pitch a new endeavor for which you are seeking collaborators.
We’ll meet at the Heights Alumni Lounge at NYU’s Silver Center, at 6:30, refreshments to be served. Following the gathering, we’ll head over to the White Oak Tavern to continue discussions.
NewYorkScapes brings together researchers at and beyond NYU who share an interest in studying the cultural, historical, and literary features of the city using a combination of digital tools and creative nondigital methods. Founded in 2013, its participants come from a broad range of disciplines with the goal of sharing research insights and resources helpful to projects on contemporary and historical urban cultures and landscapes.
