Title | PhD candidate |
Bio | I am a PhD candidate focusing on the Bronze Age of northwestern Europe. My dissertation research focuses on the use of personal ornamentation as a mechanism to negotiate social identity in dynamic societal landscapes. It consists of an analysis of personal ornaments of all forms and media in the British Isles and northern France, to determine patterns in both spatial/chronological distribution and human symbolic engagement with the objects through hoard deposition and deliberate association of ornaments with other categories of metalwork. The initial phase of the project consists of a comprehensive, open-access relational database of all known ornaments within the study area; it is hoped that sharing of said database within the archaeological twitter and other social media communities will facilitate maximum coverage of known ornaments. |
