Welcome to NYCDH.org!
We’re delighted to welcome the New York City Digital Humanities community to this site, which we hope will serve as a space in which anyone interested in, learning about, or practicing DH in the city can connect to others, start new initiatives, and share their work. The site offers various ways to connect: through profiles (and their associated social ‘friending’/email systems), through groups, through blogs, and through the shared sitewide wiki. We’re excited, too, to offer a calendar of NYC DH events and we encourage you to contribute to it. Many parts of the site offer ways for members to make content public or private depending upon their preferences, though we hope that most work on the site will default to open as a way of sharing practices and conversations with others.
Should you have an event or initiative that you’d like to publicize through the slider on our homepage, please write to nycdigitalhumanities@gmail.com with your request. Please include with your request a CC-licensed image with link/attribution information and text that you’d like to see on the slide.
This site is more or less a DIY affair, so we encourage members of the community to help each other. If you have questions, please check out our Help section and please feel free to email us with any concerns. We will be using Redmine to track features, issues, and bugs on the site. If you would like to request an account on that site so that you can be notified of ticket updates, please send us a message. The site has been built using the Commons In A Box, and it is hosted and maintained by the GC Digital Scholarship Lab at the CUNY Graduate Center.
Thanks for joining us!
