Please join us at Fordham University for a DH talk by Dr. Diego Jiménez Badillo on Large-scale computational analysis of historical sources. Dr. Jiménez (Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, Mexico ), is creating a spatial and textual database of the Relaciones Geograficas (Geographical Reports), the most important collection of primary sources from the 16th century Americas. The project thus models how computation can be used for the “big” (and often unwieldy) data coming from historical texts. He will discuss the scope of the project, its aims, and the computational methods used to achieve them.
