{"id":98,"date":"2018-05-11T18:28:53","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T18:28:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/art.nycdh.org\/?p=98"},"modified":"2018-05-11T18:28:53","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T18:28:53","slug":"steering-committee-meeting-2-15-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nycdh.org\/art\/steering-committee-meeting-2-15-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Steering Committee Meeting 2\/15\/18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In attendance (with abbreviations for notation):<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Burcak Ozludil Altin (BOA) &#8211; NJIT<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Matthew Israel (MI) &#8211; Artsy<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gabriel Rodriguez (GR) &#8211; Columbia<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jason Varone (JV) &#8211; IFA<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Katie Wright (KW) &#8211; The Metropolitan Museum<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">JV discusses history of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nycdh.org\/groups\/nyc-digital-art-history\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NYC DAH<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; started at Columbia in 2015, workshop in 2016, web presence through <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nycdh.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NYCDH<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, idea is to bounce around different institutions to promote membership as well as resources and ideas for projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Idea stemmed from the notion that there was nowhere specific for scholars or researchers to go for digital humanities resources in art history.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MI &#8211; big question is how to go about building interest from the development community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">JV &#8211; if you can access the tools, then that\u2019s one step of the way for the uninitiated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BOA &#8211; there is a need to open the door to even having the language to talk about digital projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MI &#8211; even datasets, computational skills, people wonder about ways to map data etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MI &#8211; knowing the minimal viable product is crucial<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">JV discusses past attempts to wed the development and scholarly communities, the possibility of a DAH award etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MI &#8211; who\u2019s doing this, the Frick? Are there meetups?
