The primary difference between a static map and a web map (in addition to the fact that one is on the web) is interactivity. We expect webmaps to respond to users by showing popups, highlighting features, or by being able to change layers and information. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of turning a map into a webmap.<br \/>\nWe will be using the Javascript Library, Leaftlet to turn a pre-made static map with multiple layers of information into an interactive map that can be displayed within a webpage.<br \/>\nThis workshop will be highly scaffolded so that knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript is not necessary, though familiarity with these languages will be helpful to get the most out of making web maps in this way. However, this workshop will provide a gentle introduction to the power of these languages and one tangible application.<br \/>\nBy the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:<br \/>\n* Embed a static map into a web page<br \/>\n* Select tiles for the base map based on their needs<br \/>\n* Make custom markers for data points<br \/>\n* Add interactivity to a map by including tool tips<br \/>\nParticipants will get the most out of this workshop by taking &#8216;Making Maps with QGIS&#8217;, but no GIS knowledge is assumed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Skill Level<\/b><br \/>\nBeginner<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Prerequisites<br \/>\n<\/b>None.
