Please consider submitting a proposal for HASTAC 2016! The conference will be held May 11-16 at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Proposals are due November 15.
Conference Theme: Impact, Variation, Innovation, Action
If the digital humanities are one successful configuration of humanistic and technological research domains, what other configurations are available, or urgently necessary?
HASTAC’s 2016 conference seeks proposals for papers and presentations that emphasize work in digital, environmental, and medical domains, as well as pathbreaking work that expands the possibilities for new interdisciplinary configurations. Through this agenda, HASTAC 2016 will present research that impacts and intersects with the concerns of local communities, national conversations, or worldwide systems.
The program committee is currently accepting proposals for the following formats: Long papers (10 minutes), Short papers (5 minutes), Hands-on or interactive sessions(1 hour), Birds of a feather sessions (1 hour), and Custom Sessions.
The deadline for submissions has been extended. All proposals are now due November 15, 2015. Please submit abstracts of no more than 300 words to EasyChair. This includes Custom Sessions and Birds of a Feather Sessions. Submit now!
Abstracts are capped at the word limit, but there is allowance for uploading additional files.
Long Papers (10 minutes)
Long paper: Long papers will be collected in sessions of 4 presenters in 60-minute blocks. Presenters may propose individually, or as a panel. If submitting as a panel, please use one submission on EasyChair that describes the scope of the panel in 300 words, and upload a separate document with the individual abstracts of the constituent papers.
Short Papers (5 minutes)
Short papers will be collected in sessions of 6, presented in 60-minute blocks. Short paper panels allow for extended discussion. Presenters may propose individually, or as a panel.
Hands-on or Interactive Sessions (1 hour)
These sessions require the hands-on teaching of a particular skill or technology, or the collective creation of a performance, document, invention, visualization, or other product that can be captured, recorded, or shared.
Birds of a Feather Sessions (1 hour)
These sessions are topic-driven and encourage conversation and exchange around shared interests. Proposals will include: 1) theme of session; 2) intended scope of conversation; 3) possible outcomes.
Custom Session
Custom Sessions (variable time): These sessions can be proposed to have a new format, location, or procedure. Please include desired time and location in the project abstract.
