Pratt Institute School of Information seeks a visiting assistant professor to teach INFO 640 Data Analysis. This graduate course is a core/required course in our Masters of Science in Data Analytics & Visualization program, and is an elective in our programs in Library & Information Science, Museums and Digital Culture and Information Experience Design.
This course develops skills to uncover data patterns for making informed decisions, shaping actions and beliefs. The course introduces statistical and linguistic data analysis techniques that are foundational for all information-centric fields, and prepares students to ask the right questions, make inferences and present the results. The course supports interests in data analytics, visualization, digital humanities, data mining, GIS, and general research. No previous knowledge of statistics is required. The course is offered January 28 to May 13 on Mondays 6:30pm-9:20pm at Pratt Manhattan Center – 144 W. 14th St. near 7th Avenue.
The candidate should have a Masters degree in a relevant field and have an aptitude for teaching. Local area PhD students are encouraged to apply.
