Dear Colleagues,
Greenhouse Studios (greenhousestudios.uconn.edu) at the University of Connecticut in partnership with the School of Fine Arts, is pleased to announce two funded M.F.A. studentships in Digital Media & Design, an exciting program that intersects with digital art, humanities, science, and business. The studentships will provide full tuition, health benefits, and a half-time graduate research assistantship with Greenhouse Studios | Scholarly Communications Design at UConn. Greenhouse Studios Graduate Assistants provide intellectual, artistic, design, creative expression, and technical implementation assistance to Greenhouse Studios projects. Working in a dynamic, team environment alongside faculty, library, editor, and student colleagues, graduate assistants contribute to the production of collaborative multimedia research objects. Other responsibilities include supporting day-to-day operations of the Greenhouse Studios, its directors, and its collaborative workspace.
We are currently looking for some excellent MFA candidates to start in Fall 2020. I’m reaching out to you to see if you have any senior undergraduates or alumni who might be interested in joining us. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring digital humanist or digital artist to work in close collaboration with experts from a range of fields and to experiment with new modes of expression and communication.
Please share widely and feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thank you!

About the MFA in Digital Media & Design:
As part of a top-25 public research university, UConn’s Digital Media & Design Department operates at the intersection of fine art, science, technology, and the humanities. The program is designed for the graduate student who has educational or career experience in digital media and design, giving them the opportunity to intensely pursue advanced education and research in their specific area of expertise or in an interdisciplinary capacity drawing from more than one area within the digital media space. Situated in the School of Fine Arts, DMD faculty and students have the opportunity to engage in collaborative projects with both industry partners and top researchers across the university.
While we are located within a beautiful rural landscape, our close proximity to Hartford (30 minutes), Providence (1 hour), Boston (1.5 hour), and New York City (2.5 hours) offers unique opportunities in a variety of urban communities.
Please apply here by JANUARY 11, 2020. It is a two-step application process through the Graduate School and Slideroom. The GRE is NOT required for admission into our program. Applicants must select Digital Media & Design in the application, and specify intent for the Greenhouse Studios Studentship in the cover letter. Portfolios need not be composed entirely (or mainly) of artwork. Academic writing, poetry, code, websites, and the like are all acceptable, as we welcome all kinds of talented people to UConn Digital Media & Design and Greenhouse Studios!
