I am Professor of English at New York University, where I teach courses in digital humanities (mainly computational stylistics and text analysis), stylistics, and English language. I have published two books–A New Theory of Old English Meter, Language and Style in The Inheritors–and an edited volume–Stylistics: Prospect and Retrospect–and numerous articles on authorship attribution and corpus and computational stylistics. Forthcoming in early 2014 is Digital Literary Studies: Corpus Approaches to Poetry, Prose, and Drama (with Jonathan Culpeper and Kieran O’Halloran). I have been active in digital humanities for thirty years, and am currently writing a book on how modes of composition (handwriting, dictation, typing, word-processing) affect authorial style.
