Title | Cultural R&D Game Designer |
Bio | A life-long dedicated scholar of literature, languages, and new media, I received my PhD in Comparative Literature and my MA in Creative Writing from UC Berkeley. My creative and critical work focuses on pushing the bounds of experimental storytelling and understanding the capacities of different narrative forms and mediums for readerly engagement. Since receiving my PhD, I have pursued a professional career in game design and development, exploring the interactive and storytelling capabilities of video games and virtual reality, especially where these technologies function as an access point for the general public and non-academic viewers to encounter scholarship, research, and ideas that may otherwise remain insulated within the institution’s walls. In 2021, I founded Mad Air Studios, a game developer and cultural innovation studio based in New York City, with the mission to create games and digital experiences that bring together research, art, and entertainment all in one. |
Interests | Reading, literature, writing, games, stories, history, exploring New York City by foot. |
Projects | The Gurge: Into the Labyrinth: a first-person interactive fiction experience that tests the limits of non-linear narrative and explores the post-post apocalyptic experience of unearthing human histories thousands of years from now. The Garden Plot: a photorealistic virtual reality gardening experience app that uses real-time weather and climate data to generate a virtually simulated “real” world in which users can cultivate their own gardens. |
