Samantha Deutch is the Assistant Director of the Center for the History of Collecting at the Frick Art Reference Library in charge of the Center’s programming: fellowships, events, and publications. She holds Master’s Degrees in both Library and Information Science (Rutgers University) and Art History, 18th and 19th Century Spanish Art (Binghamton University). She is the creator and editor of the Center’s online Archives Directory for the History of Collecting in America, for which she was awarded the Worldwide Books Award for Electronic Resources in 2011 by the Art Library’s Society of North America. Most recently, Deutch published an article “ARt Image Exploration Space (ARIES): A response to the image needs of art library patrons” in the Art Libraries Journal (2021); and contributed a chapter, “Lost Intentions: Mary Jane Morgan’s Art Treasures” in “What’s Mine is Yours”: Private Collectors and Public Patronage, Essays in Honor of Inge Reist co-published by Library and The Center for Spain in America (2021). She is currently serving as Chair of ARLIS/NA’s New York Chapter and is the Community Facilitator for ARLIS/NA’s new publication, the Digital Art History Directory.
