A crash course on fair use, particularly for digital scholarship projects that use copyrighted works as data. We will look at the wiggle room built into the fair use clause of U.S. copyright law, and at what that wiggle room has allowed. We will also look at the increasing importance of transformativeness in court rulings about fair use.
