Dear NYCDH Members,
We’ve recently made a few changes to the NYCDH site that offer increased security and increased ease-of-use:
1. Security
In response to a few incidences of spam, we have installed a new security plugin on the site. While this will result in less spam, it may affect your log-in experience, especially if you enter the wrong password. If you enter the wrong password more than three times, you may find yourself locked out of the site. If that happens, you will be temporarily blocked from the login page. Please contact us at nycdigitalhumanities@gmail.com if you need to regain access to your account.
2. Custom Email Addresses for Groups
We’ve installed a new feature, created by the CUNY Academic Commons team, that allows groups to set custom email addresses that all members of the group can use to start new discussion forum topics by email. This, in effect, makes a CBOX group more like a listserv — so that, after a group admin sets this up, an email that any group member sends to groups-CUSTOMGROUPNAME@nycdh.org will create a new forum topic.
It was already possible to post replies to existing topics via email; this new feature extends email posting to new topics.
Group admins interested in setting this up for their groups should log in to NYCDH and visit the Manage > Email Options area of their groups.
Thank you and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at nycdigitalhumanities@gmail.com
Best,
Matt
