For those of you who couldn’t make it to the event today — or if you just want to review what happened in another session, etc. — here are the collaborative notes taken throughout the day. See also #nycdh on Twitter for all related tweets.

We would really like to see the Student Group beef up a bit. Now that we have three Admins (welcome, Kristen!) we’re hoping that we can achieve this. On that note, if anyone would like to become an admin, we’d love to have you.

I plan on reaching out to professors in various programs to help promote the group. Any other ideas are most welcome.

I’m excited to be on board with promoting this group and bringing students together! I’d like to mention that Jenny and I tentatively worked out a date and time for a Grad Student DH Meetup/Social: Fri, October 18, 6pm-9pm! We still need to find a location – preferably a centrally located bar (so I’d suggest somewhere in midtown..)

      Any suggestions??

I vote for Swift because the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating for our large digiBar group yesterday, and it’s very spacious and relaxed. It’s close to the BDFMNR and 6 trains. However, I’m open to any place that would be great for a large group. Can’t wait!

Great day yesterday and fun to hang with everyone! Thanks Jenny for posting the link to the notes doc and I 2nd the welcome aboard Kristen. It will be fantastic to get a greater cross-section of area students working/interested in DH involved.

Swift works, but if looking for more midtown locations, there are: Keg Room (on W 36), Rattle N Hum (E 33rd), GingerMan (E 36th) and there are a couple of other places closer to Grand Central, but can’t recall their actual names. I can check on that…

No problem! Thanks for the suggestions Sean. I’m totally flexible about the venue. As long as it can accommodate a group, I have no preference. It looks like GingerMan has a nice lounge in the back.

      Any other opinions?

Thanks, Sean – I’m looking forward to it! Those are great location suggestions. The Ginger Man is a favorite of mine, but at 6 it’s an utter zoo with the midtown happy hour crowd. That might actually be an issue for any of these places, but I can for sure that it would be w/Ginger Man.
