Bio | Jaime Shearn Coan is the Mellon/ACLS Public Fellow and Communications Manager at ONE Archives Foundation, Inc. Before coming to ONE Archives Foundation, Jaime served as a 2019-2020 Scholar-in-Residence at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York. He received his PhD in English from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center, where he also served as a Digital Publics Fellow for the Center for the Humanities from 2017-2019. His dissertation, “Corporeal Archives of HIV/AIDS: The Performance of Relation,” considers live performance as an alternative site of AIDS historiography, and recommends oral history as an ideal method for reactivating the live performance made in New York City in the 1980s and 90s. Jaime’s writing has appeared in publications including TDR: The Drama Review, Critical Correspondence, Drain Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Movement Research Performance Journal, Gulf Coast, On Curating, Women & Performance, and Bodies of Evidence: Ethics, Aesthetics, and Politics of Movement. He is the co-editor of Lost and Found: Dance, New York, HIV/AIDS, Then and Now (Danspace Project 2016) and Marking the Occasion (Wendy’s Subway 2020). |
