Bio | As Fulbright Scholar at New York University, Paloma Baytelman is interested in researching how to connect public institutions with citizens through new media, not just broadcasting information but creating conversation and exploring crowd-sourced initiatives. Prior to this, Paloma Baytelman was head of Digital Media at CORFO, the Chilean Economic Development Agency, where she was responsible for digital communication strategies and community management guidelines. Baytelman was also a Web editor for Chile’s first online medical publication, and a project manager for the National Library of the Chilean Congress’s Innovation Lab. In 2010 she was the Chilean representative on the first Social Media Tour, hosted by the U.S. Department of State. Along with other 30 prominent online journalists from around the world, she traveled to Washington DC, where she met with the directors of New Media at the White House and the State Department and several Congressmen to discuss digital communications issues. In California they got together with executives from Google, Facebook and Twitter. Paloma Baytelman holds degrees in communications and journalism from the Universidad Diego Portales, as well as a diploma in Digital Management from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
